The Fun Part
The fun part about this course is rising to challenges and mastering them. Most divers find this course both demanding and rewarding, thats why they say it is the best course that they have taken.
What do I need to start?
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
- Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)
- Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months (Emergency First Response recommended)
What will I learn?
Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and if necessary manage dive emergencies. During the five open water sessions, you'll cover:
- Self-rescue and diver stress
- Diver first aid
- Emergency management and equipment
- Swimming and non-swimming assists
- Panicked diver response
- Underwater problems
- Missing diver procedures
- Surfacing the unconscious diver
- In water artificial respiration
- Exits
- First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
- Dive accident scenarios
How long will it take?
Depending on the student, but the course normally takes a day in our heated pool at Reef Divers and a long open water day at Miracle Waters for the rescue scenarios!
What will I need?
- PADI Rescue Diver Crew-Pak, either online (you can buy that here!) or physical materials from our dive centre.
- First Aid and CPR training – EFR - (within the previous 24 months)
Where can I go from here?
The PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all Professional level PADI courses as well as for Master Scuba Diver (the Black Belt of diving and the highest non- professional rating in scuba diving!).
The PADI Divemaster course are for those with leadership aspirations this course will focus more on dive theory and developing your leadership skills so that you can become a true PADI professional!
