You will need 2 weekends (4 days) to complete the course, 1st weekend will be at our shop with our on- site closed and heated pool and the 2nd weekend will be at Miracle waters (in Brits), Sodwana Bay , Aliwal Shoal, Mozambique or Egypt for your qualifying dives.
The course consists of 3 parts:
1st step is self study with your PADI Ultimate Open Water Crew pack. The pack consists of your own manual, open Water DVD, logbook and your multi-level electronic dive planner.( e-RDPml)
You will have 5 sections to work though before any in water training, this must be completed at home, on your own time, and completed prior  to start of practical training .
Once you are done with your homework, you are ready for the 2nd part which is the pool training dives! Our pool is covered, heated and cleaned using Ozone, not chlorine…
We will start on a Saturday morning at 9am with theory and your homework. Please note the Medical requirements for this course! The Medical Statement HAS to be completed and signed – any “YES” anywhere on the form requires you to seek a Medical Doctor’s  advice and a letter from them stating that you are “medically fit to Scuba Dive” You WILL NOT be allowed to enter the water if this requirement is not met.
Around lunch time, depending on how you feel, we decide either to stop at 15:00 and come back on the Sunday, or if we should push through and finish up everything on the Saturday…(This entirely depends on your learning pace). We will check your home work, explain any misunderstood points and you will write quizzes on this 1st weekend as well.
Part 3 are the four qualifying dives. This will usually be done at Miracle waters where you will also write your final exam. We do 2 dives on the Saturday and 2 dives on the Sunday. After that you are qualified as a PADI Open Water Diver! Please note that you HAVE to have passed the exam on Saturday in order to complete the last two dives on Sunday.
You may also choose to qualify at either Sodwana Bay , Aliwal shoal, Mozambique or in Egypt - these costs will change as the dives and accommodation packages differ. (contact us to see if we have any specials running for alternative destinations or contact us for these arrangements).
For the pool dives we will supply you with Soft gear and Hard gear. Soft gear – Mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, weight belt and weights.
Hard gear – BCD, Reg and cylinder - However, we do recommend investing in your own soft gear to ensure a comfortable  and a better learning experience.)
For the qualifying dives we only supply you with the hard gear at Miracle Waters (Please enquire for pricing at Sodwana or Aliwal or any other destination pre-arranged), you will need to either rent your soft gear prior to your dives, or alternatively, you may purchase your own gear from us at a first time diver price. You will also need to cover your own transport and entrance fees to the various venues.( we do have a bus running to Miracle waters on qualifying weekends – please ask for pricing if you are interested)
